Entrust Datacard | Entrust your SSL business to Synaxon for dependable profits
As part of Synaxon’s service and commitment to our members, we strive to partner with the best vendors that can help deliver on our core value proposition – to buy better, sell more and reduce costs. We’re pleased to announce that we’ve now formed a partnership with Entrust Datacard – a global organisation that has provided a wide-range of trusted identity-based solutions since 1969.
Entrust Datacard was a pioneer of public key infrastructure (PKI) and is an established and trusted Certificate Authority. It is also one of the innovators in the fast-moving IOT space – which is estimated to grow to $79.6 billion by 2021 at a CAGR of 29.5%, according to Research and Markets.
Many of your customers will be making use of SSL certificates from multiple providers, such as Certificate Authorities like Go-Daddy, Comodo, and Digicert. They may also use on-line “SSL stores” that sell on behalf of SSL providers, or web hosting providers who add SSL Certificates automatically at a premium cost.
Synaxon’s partnership with Entrust will enable you to switch that spend away from these providers to you instead, giving you a predictable, profitable and recurring revenue stream with great potential for organic growth and up-sell/cross-sell opportunities.
All ordering, tracking, renewing/re-issuing is done through a single Entrust portal, so it’s very easy to take advantage – and it could not be simpler to get started with Synaxon. Once you are registered with Entrust, they can show you how many SSL certificates your customer base has and from that estimate the potential value of your sales.
As a Synaxon member, you will be entitled to a special member discount, which you can’t get anywhere else – including Entrust.com. Furthermore, Entrust will give you an amazing 50% discount on all certificates sold within the first 12 months, following a roll-out of their Entrust Discovery agent to your customer base. This will provide a more detailed and complete report on the number of the certificates on these networks – and the potential to your business.
Entrust is based in Reading, so you will have easy access to dependable support via phone, email or chat for all your digital certificate and SSL needs. Furthermore, by taking advantage of the Entrust monthly billing option, you will need to spend less time using credit cards or creating purchase orders for every single certificate purchase and renewal.
Entrust is also leading the way with SSL certificates for IOT and this is another great area of potential. Every device relies on certificates for security, so offering SSL certificate services will put you in an excellent position as the use of IOT devices grows.
You will be able to purchase Entrust in EGIS soon. You will also be able to access further information, register for demonstrations, apply for discounted pricing and access to the Entrust Discovery tool to help generate opportunities and sales via EGIS.

Datto | Autotask MSPs now have access to EGIS
We are now making the full capabilities of its EGIS available to hundreds of Autotask MSPs who rely on the company’s Professional Services Automation (PSA) to run their business. This gives them full access to the stock availability and pricing from leading distributors and the ability to manage all their procurement through a single and comprehensive industry portal. It also makes EGIS even stronger and more appealing.
We’ve completed the integration between the two systems, making it possible for Autotask partners users to access EGIS without leaving PSA. This will give them the ability to drive greater efficiencies by checking availability of channel stock at any time – and take advantage of exclusive deals made available by our distribution partners.
The agreement is the first major partnership to be completed under the Datto brand name following merger of the two leading players in managed services business support systems.
Derek Jones, Managing Director of Synaxon UK, stated: “This is a significant agreement for several reasons. It gives the hundreds of Autotask PSA partner companies in the UK the potential to streamline their business processes, drive sales and reduce costs by making use of the advanced functionality within Synaxon’s EGIS system. It deepens the strong partnership we’ve had with Autotask since 2010 and is also important for being the first agreement completed by the newly-merged organisation under the Datto brand-name.”
Synaxon is a partner distributor for Autotask AEB and already works with many of the company’s partners in the UK. Jones believes the contract is an important a breakthrough. “This is the first time we have had full integration between an MSP management system and EGIS. It multiplies the benefits of PSA for Autotask partners and enables us to work even more closely to support MSPs in driving their sales and business growth. It’s a strategically important development for us as we move towards making Synaxon UK a one-stop channel partner for resellers who are looking to develop their managed service business.”
To make use of EGIS, Datto’s Autotask PSA partners will need to register as SynMSP members with Synaxon UK. The SynMSP programme is specifically designed to support managed services companies. It is already proving to be popular with more than 10 businesses committed to joining the scheme. Jones said that MSPs can benefit whether they are just starting out or already building their MSP practice. “We’ve designed SynMSP to suit service providers at all levels of development and maturity. It’s an ideal programme for partners who are just getting started or those who are looking to take their business to the next level.”
DMSL | DMSL provides three-minute test for resellers to assess GDPR readiness
Synaxon partner DMSL has set up a simple web page that gives you a quick and easy way to assess your readiness to comply with GDPR. The three-minute self-assessment consists of a series of 12 multiple-choice questions. Once completed, it provides an indication of the level of risk to which you might be exposed. You also get an email, detailing the result and advising whether you need to take further action or not.
John Carter, Managing Director of DMSL, said: “Most resellers are probably fed up receiving GDPR emails, so we have designed this test to be different. It’s a simple three-minute test on what you know and what you don’t. If resellers do need help getting compliant, we can point them in the right direction. Then – if they choose to – they can sell their services to their own customers and help them be compliant too.”
The company is also encouraging resellers to get in contact with Metanoia Partners, who can provide detailed needs assessments and action plans for GDPR. DMSL has itself used Metanoia to ensure it is ready for GDPR. In the process it has also achieved the government’s Cyber Essentials certification, which verifies that a business is able to protect itself and its data against common cyber threats.
GDPR will come into force on 25 May 2018. In part a response to the rise of data breaches and cyber-attacks, it is designed to protect an individual’s personal data and make organisations accountable for the way they handle information. Organisations will need to record how and when an individual gave consent for their details to be used and respond quickly to consumers requests for data they hold on them. Any data breach will need to be reported within 72 hours and businesses could face heavy fines of up to €20m or 4% of their turnover for breaches.
F-Secure | The UK’s Digital Economy Act: Anything you do online can be traced back to you – unless you use a VPN!
The UK’s Digital Economy Act 2018, which goes into full force in April of this year, includes a new age verification requirement for adult websites. This new limitation on how adults use the web could threaten users’ privacy. VPN with virtual location features, like F-Secure FREEDOME VPN, allows you to continue accessing the sites of your choice in the same way people outside the UK can, without offering identifying information. And FREEDOME also protects your web traffic and blocks advertising trackers.
